Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Ian Merten #41202 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles
Strong Middle Mile Fuels Steady 5K Finish Ian Merten finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 29:55, an average pace of 9:39 per mile. Merten opened with a 9:55 first mile, then surged to 8:36 for mile two, the fastest mile of his race, before settling to a 10:28 close. The final result finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting over 5,000 feet in elevation. Merten's early pickup suggests he had another gear available; a more even split between miles one and three could sharpen the overall time on a future outing.
