Strong Middle Mile Fuels Steady 5K Finish Andres Guzman finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:48, an overall pace of 9:17 per mile. After an opening mile of 9:37, Guzman surged to a 7:53 second mile, his fastest of the race, before easing to 10:21 over the closing stretch. That middle-mile burst stands as the highlight of his effort, showing a strong capacity to shift gears mid-race. With Boulder's elevation over 5,000 feet adding context to any pace on this course, Guzman's ability to accelerate through the second mile is a notable strength. Building a more even pacing plan around that surgestarting a touch faster and holding more of that middle-mile intensity through the finishcould be a worthwhile focus for his next 5K.
