Faster Finish, Stronger Kick Seal the Improvement Harper Kelley crossed the half marathon in 1:48:38, finishing 698th overall and 185th among women comfortably ahead of her 2025 result of 1:53:51, a 5:13 improvement in elapsed time and nearly 24 minutes better in pace per mile (8:17 vs. 8:41). Her race opened briskly, with the first mile at 7:34 before settling into an 8:008:20 elapsed pace through the middle miles. A rougher patch arrived around mile 7 (9:15), but she rebounded steadily, closing with her fastest mile of the day, mile 12, in 7:18. That late surge helped her negative-split the back half relative to the midrace lull. Racing at altitude in Boulder, over 5,000 feet, she navigated a 2026 half marathon course whose net elevation gain was cut nearly 50 percent from prior editions a redesign that paired well with her strong closing miles.
