Fast Start Fuels a Steady Half-Marathon Finish Rome Bowman covered the 2026 Boulderthon half marathon in 1:59:28, an overall pace of 9:07 per mile. He opened aggressively, covering the first five miles in 39:41 (7:56 per mile), the strongest stretch of his race. From there his per-mile pace settled into the 8:36-9:43 range through the remaining miles, holding a consistent rhythm to the finish rather than fading sharply. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Bowman's disciplined pacing in the second half helped him close out the race with control after his quick opening miles. A slightly more even split between the early and later stages could help him sustain that opening speed even longer in a future half marathon.
