Fast Start Fuels Steady Fade to the Finish Dan Maguire covered the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 58:30, an overall pace of 9:26 per mile. His race was front-loaded: the opening two miles clicked by in 8:25 and 7:45, pulling his cumulative pace down to 8:05 per mile through two miles the fastest stretch of his day. From there the pace eased steadily, mile by mile, as elapsed pace climbed to 8:43 by mile four and 9:27 by the finish. Maguire's 10K, starting at 8:10 AM, wrapped up on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Given the strength of that early pace, working toward a more even effort across the back half could help him carry more of that early speed to the line next time.
