Fast Start Fuels a Battle to the Finish Ethan Andersen crossed the line in 3:54:55, placing 305th overall and 243rd among men in a field of 3,305. Andersen's race told two stories. Through 17 miles, he held a steady 7:27 per-mile pace, tucking into the 7:00s and 8:00s with barely a wobble a strong, controlled opening that built real time in the bank. From mile 18 on, the effort caught up with him, and his pace eased into the 9- to 16-minute range per mile as he worked through the closing miles, still finishing with a mile 26 split back down near 11:00. That early 17-mile stretch stands as the highlight of the day. Fittingly, he closed it out on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a finish earned at altitude above 5,000 feet.
