Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Michael Obrien #42357 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Start Fuels Solid 5K Finish Michael Obrien completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:56. He opened with a 7:59 first mile, held 8:12 through two miles, then eased to 9:16 by the finish. The opening mile was Obrien's standout stretch, run well under his overall pace and setting up the rest of the race. The final mile slowed to 11:25, a notable shift from the pace he'd built through the first two miles. Given the strength of that early pace, working on sustaining it through the closing stretch could be worth exploring in future races. The race finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
