Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Braden Nicholson #140029 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Blistering Opener Fuels Top-10 5K Finish Braden Nicholson placed 8th overall and 8th among men in the 2026 Boulderthon 5K, finishing in 14:51 at an overall pace of 4:47 per mile. This result follows his 2025 Boulderthon Marathon, where he ran 2:22:14 for a 2nd-place overall finish a different distance and demand, but proof of Nicholson's range across race lengths. The race unfolded fast: Nicholson covered the opening mile in 4:22, then surged to a 4:09 second mile, pushing his cumulative pace to 4:15 per mile through two miles the standout stretch of the race. The third mile eased to 5:44, settling his final pace. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that early rhythm stands out as the defining feature of his race. A slightly more even effort across the final mile could help him sustain that early speed to the line.
