Fast Start Gives Way to a Steady Fade Amanda Martinez covered the Boulderthon 10K in 1:02:08. Her pace climbed steadily from mile to mile, opening at 8:43 and 8:56 before drifting up through 9:33, 10:07, and 10:25, then easing further to close the race. Her strongest stretch came in the opening two miles, covered at roughly an 8:49 per mile pace, the fastest sustained running of her race. From there, each mile ticked slower than the last, a pattern worth noting for pacing on future efforts perhaps holding a touch more in reserve early could help even things out over the back half. She finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting cap to a race run at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet.
