Strong Early Pace Carries Marathon Debut Through Mid-Race Aaron Heirigs completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:16:18. He built his race on a steady first half, clicking off miles between 8:45 and 9:03 through mile 12, holding elapsed pace right around 8:55/mile. That opening stretch, roughly miles 1 through 10, stands as his most consistent mile-plus segment of the day, with splits tightening between 8:45 and 9:13 despite the field thinning around him. From mile 13 onward the pace gradually eased, drifting into the 9:20-9:40 range through mile 20, before slowing further over the closing 10K as splits climbed into the 11-13 minute range. That late fade came in the marathon's second half, which passes near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 22.5 before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a finish reached at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
