Strong Start Fuels Solid Half Marathon Finish Ross Williamson crossed the line in 1:41:25, good for 322nd among men, in the 2026 Boulderthon half marathon. His race opened fast: the first six miles clicked by near a 7:00/mile pace, with the opening mile his quickest of the day at 6:54. That effort eased over the second half, with miles seven and eight slipping to 8:08 and 9:03 before he steadied into the high 7:00s and low 8:00s to close out the race, finishing his final mile in 7:59. That early six-mile stretch stands as the highlight of the race, banking time that carried him to the finish. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the pace through those miles reflects well-managed effort before the natural settling in the second half. The finish on the Pearl Street Mall capped a day with a clear positive split, and there's room to explore holding that early rhythm a bit longer next time.
