That mark comes in slightly behind his 2025 Boulderthon 10K, where he ran 44:53 for 68th overall. The race opened strong: Derenchuk's first mile clocked 6:50, his fastest of the day and well under his overall 7:29 min/mile pace. From there, each successive mile ticked slightly slower, with the closing mile landing at 8:35 min/mile. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that early pace stands out as the clear highlight. Building a pacing plan that holds closer to that opening rhythm through the back half could be a worthwhile focus for next time.
