Strong Surge Through the Middle Mile Corey Lofton finished the 5K in 22:54, placing 143rd overall and 109th among men out of the field of 2,677. His race built momentum steadily: an opening mile of 7:51 gave way to a sharp 6:35 second mile, his fastest of the race, before settling to 7:43 to close things out. That middle-mile surge stood out as the clear highlight, dropping him from 240th to 171st overall at that checkpoint. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Lofton's pace held firm through the finish, capping a well-paced effort with a strong final kick that pushed him up to 124th overall by the finish line.
