Strong Start Fuels a Steady 10K Finish Katie Bustos completed her 10K in 57:24, an overall pace of 9:15 per mile. She opened well, covering the first two miles in 8:53 and 8:48, then eased through a middle stretch of 9:25 and 9:39 before finding her rhythm again with an 8:42 fifth mile her fastest full mile of the race. The closing mile cost her some time, but the middle-to-late surge showed she could still accelerate after settling into the race. Bustos crossed the line on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a finish shared by every distance in the event. Given Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, her ability to produce a sub-8:45 mile late in the race stands out as a strong effort at altitude.
