Strong Start Fuels a Top 5% Finish Isaias Flores placed 122nd overall and 94th among men in the 2026 Boulderthon 5K, finishing in 22:19 a result that lands him in the top 5% of the field. Flores opened with a swift first mile in 6:36, then pushed even harder through the second mile, clocking 6:24 for his fastest mile of the race. That two-mile stretch, covered in under 13 minutes, set the tone for a strong overall pace of 7:12 per mile. The final mile slowed to 8:14, a natural settling after an aggressive early pace. Given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, the quick start reflects sound pacing instincts, and theres room to experiment with a more even split next time to see how it affects the closing mile.
