Fast Start Fuels a Hard-Earned Marathon Finish Charlie Maynard completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:38:24. Through the opening miles he ran a strong pace, covering the first 5 miles at roughly 7:45 per mile, but the back half told a different story as fatigue set in, with miles 21-25 slowing into the 15-16 minute range before a final push brought him home. The early miles were the clear standout: Maynard's first 5K split ranks as the fastest sustained stretch of his race, banked well ahead of the pack before the course wore him down. Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adds context to that late fade, and finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall capped a marathon that started strong and gutted out the rest.
