**Strong Finishing Kick Powers Steady 10K Progression** Marix Barrera ran 59:30 in the 10K at the 2026 Boulderthon, settling into a rhythm after a 10:12 opening mile and steadily trimming her overall pace through the middle miles. Her fourth and fifth miles were the standout stretch of the race, clocked at 9:25 and 8:19 respectively, pulling her cumulative pace down from 9:56 to 9:36 min/mile a clear surge in the back half of the course. Barrera's race unfolded as a negative-split effort, with her early pace easing steadily as the miles ticked by. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, she capped the effort at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
