His opening mile was his fastest of the day at 8:02, and he held a sub-8:20 cumulative pace through mile three before easing slightly over the closing miles. Geer's first two miles were his strongest stretch, covering that ground at roughly an 8:00 pace before the effort settled into the high 8:00s and 9:00s through the finish. Starting at 7,000-plus feet given Boulder's elevation, that early rhythm stood out as the highlight of his race. The finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder capped a well-paced effort, with plenty of room to build on that fast start in future races.
