A Strong Middle Mile Anchors a Steady 5K Alex Pope completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:25. His pace shifted noticeably across the race: an opening mile at 11:05, a sharp drop to 9:33 for the second mile, then a settling back to 11:39 for the third, closing out the cumulative time at just under 11-minute pace. That middle mile stands out as the strongest stretch of his race, nearly a minute and a half faster than his other two miles. Boulder's elevation, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds context to any effort here, and the finish carried him onto the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder alongside the rest of the field.
