Steady Pace Through 18 Miles Anchors Marathon Finish Christopher Tunze completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:22:04. He ran evenly through the first 18 miles, holding between 9:00 and 9:20 per mile, before the pace eased over the back stretch. He closed with a 9:21 final mile, pulling the overall time back down after the toughest middle-late section. His strongest stretch came from miles 11 through 15, averaging about 8:49 per mile, the fastest sustained running of his race. That stretch preceded a natural fade that began after mile 18, running through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5 of the course. The effort came at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, on a marathon route that finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
