Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Yasin Sado #140027 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Blistering Second Mile Powers a Top-Five Finish Yasin Sado crossed the 5K in 14:13, finishing 4th overall and 4th among men in a field of 2,677. That result improves on his 2024 Boulderthon 5K time of 14:40, when he placed 9th overall, shaving 27 seconds off his previous mark. Sado's pacing showed a strong middle surge: after an opening mile of 4:23, he dropped to 3:58 for mile two his fastest mile of the race before easing to 5:22 over the closing stretch. That second-mile split was quick enough to move him into 2nd place at the two-mile checkpoint, the high point of his race. With altitude in Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, that mile stands out as the day's strongest effort, and there's room to explore whether a more even split could sharpen the finish further next time.
