Strong Finishing Miles Fuel a Confident Close Trey Botts covered the 10K in 57:47, an overall pace of 9:19 per mile. His race built steadily: after an 11:08 opening mile and a slower third mile, he found his rhythm over the final two miles, covering that stretch in roughly 8:33 per mile the strongest sustained running of his day and a clear signal of finishing strength. That closing surge carried him down to the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, where every Boulderthon distance ends. Given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, negative-splitting the back half of a 10K here is a solid marker of pacing discipline. Building on that late-race strength could make for an even smoother opening mile next time out.
