Strong Start Fuels Top-50 Finish in Boulder 10K Owen Mccain finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 43:00 (6:56/mile), placing 46th overall, 32nd among men, and third in the men's 20-24 division out of the field of 3,071. Mccain went out fast, covering his opening mile in 5:52 before settling into a steady rhythm through the middle miles. His pace held near 6:15-6:20 per mile through mile three, and his first two miles remained the strongest stretch of the race. The back half saw a gradual fade as splits climbed past 7:00, then 7:11 by mile five, reflecting the effort of an aggressive early pace at altitude in a city sitting over 5,000 feet. Mccain might consider a slightly more even opening pace in future races to preserve strength over the closing miles, though his early speed clearly paid dividends in the standings.
