Strong Closing Miles Power a Steady Half-Marathon Finish Heather Elkins, 48, of Boulder, CO, finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:44:49, a modest step back from her 1:43:01 clocking in the 2023 edition of the race. Her pacing followed a familiar arc: brisk opening miles near 7:53, a mid-race dip through miles 5-8 into the 8:06-8:27 range, then a rally over the closing stretch. That final push stood out miles 11 through 13 clicked off at roughly 7:39 per mile, the fastest sustained stretch of her race, capped by a 7:33 last mile. This finish came on the newly redesigned 2026 half marathon course, which trimmed net elevation gain by nearly 50 percent, from 384 to 203 feet, before runners closed out on the Pearl Street Mall.
