Strong Closing Miles Power a Steady 10K Finish Hulquest crossed the 10K in 1:08:11, opening with back-to-back 10:5x miles before a third-mile dip to 12:50 slowed the overall pace. She answered with a strong rebound, dropping to 11:47, then 9:48, closing out the race with real momentum. That final two-mile stretch, covering miles five and six in right around 10:00 per mile, stood as the fastest sustained running of her race, a clear recovery from the mid-race lull. Racing at altitude in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds extra weight to that late surge. With the pace trending faster through the finish rather than fading, this looks like a race shape worth building on for next time perhaps working toward smoothing out that middle-mile dip so the strong closing rhythm can start a bit sooner.
