Steady Pacing Powers a Big Personal Leap Josh Mcclauss finished the half marathon in 1:48:05, placing 673rd overall and 497th among men in a field of 7,223. That's a significant improvement over his 2025 Boulderthon half marathon result of 1:57:07, shaving over nine minutes off his time and climbing from 1415th overall into the top 10% of this year's field. Mcclauss ran a remarkably even race, holding an elapsed pace between 8:00 and 8:13 per mile from start to finish with no significant fade. His fastest mile came early, a 7:47 split for mile two, before he settled into a consistent rhythm through the closing miles. That consistency paid off on a 2026 half marathon course reworked to cut net elevation gain nearly in half, from 384 feet to 203 feet, a change that suited his steady, controlled effort well.
