Steady Miles Capped by a Race-Best Surge Before the Finish Grace Burton covered the 10K in 56:53, an overall pace of 9:10 per mile. Her early miles held in a tight band9:01, 8:43, 9:11, 9:26before she found her rhythm in mile 5, clocking 8:34, her fastest mile of the race. The final mile eased to 10:16 as she carried that effort to the line in downtown Boulder. Running that stretch of miles at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, makes the mile 5 surge a notable piece of pacing. Given the strong finish kick she showed there, working on sustaining that same effort into the final mile could be a useful focus for her next 10K.
