Steady Effort Carries Boulder Runner Through a Shifting 5K Ella Marrufo, 23, of Boulder, finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:21. Her opening mile came in at 10:52, before a strong second mile brought her cumulative pace down to 10:05, the fastest mile of her race. The final mile slowed to 12:10, pushing her overall pace back up to 10:46 at the finish. Boulder's elevation, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds context to any pace run through downtown Boulder, where the race concluded on the Pearl Street Mall. Marrufo's middle mile stands out as the clear highlight of her effort building on that pace over the final stretch could be a useful focus for her next race.
