Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Ruby Holmes #42072 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Carries a Steady 5K Finish Ruby Holmes covered the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:22. Her race built in the middle: an opening mile of 10:36 gave way to a quicker 9:28 second mile, her fastest of the day, before easing to 12:13 over the closing stretch. That middle mile stands as the clear highlight of her run, showing she could shift into a faster gear once settled. Holmes' race finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, the traditional finish line for every distance at the event, capping her effort at over 5,000 feet of elevation. With the pacing pattern she showed here, working on sustaining that second-mile rhythm through the final stretch could be a useful focus for her next 5K.
