Strong Middle Miles Power a Steady Half Marathon Finish Yahir Trejo, 22, of Aurora, completed the Half Marathon in 1:49:32, an 8:21 min/mile pace. He opened conservatively with a 9:52 first mile before accelerating steadily, dropping to 8:36 by mile 3. Miles 4 through 6 were his strongest stretch, holding between 7:53 and 7:59 per mile, pulling his overall pace under 8:40. From there, he settled into a rhythm in the low 8:20s to high 8:30s through the second half, closing with a 8:03 final mile that kept his overall pace consistent to the line. Trejo's steady effort carried him past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 in stride, part of a course that finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation.
