Fast Start Gives Way to a Steady Grind Juan Aguon finished the 10K in 1:01:45, an average pace of 9:57 per mile. He opened with a strong first mile at 7:32, easily his fastest of the day, before settling into a more moderate rhythm through the middle miles. After that quick start, Aguon's pace eased steadily through miles two and three, dropping to an 8:47 and then a 10:47 split as the race wore on. Miles four and five held fairly steady in the 10:0010:20 range, showing solid control through the middle of the course. The final mile slowed further to 12:06, closing out a race defined by an aggressive opening effort followed by a gradual, consistent settling of pace over the remaining distance.
