Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Emily Wightman completed the 5K in 30:27, moving through the field steadily across three miles. She opened in 9:25, surged to a race-best 8:39 over the second mile, then eased to 11:35 to the finish. That middle mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the day, showing a strong ability to build pace once warmed up. Boulders elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds context to any effort on this course. Wightmans race ended, as every distance does, on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Bouldera fitting close to a race defined by a well-paced second mile surge.
