Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Strong Closing Kick Shawn Horne finished the half marathon in 2:12:57, compared with 1:47:12 in 2025's race a notable step back from last year's pace. The race unfolded evenly through the first ten miles, holding between 9:50 and 10:15 per mile and crossing the 10-mile mark at 1:40:51. Mile 11 brought a sharp dip to 12:20, but he answered with his strongest two-mile stretch of the day, covering miles 12 and 13 in 9:39 and 9:13 to close things out. That late surge stood out as the best sustained running of the race. This year's half course carried nearly 50% less climbing than before, down to 203 feet of gain a helpful backdrop for that final rally at altitude in Boulder.
