Strong Middle Miles Power a Steady Marathon Finish Tomas Carrill covered the 26.2-mile Boulderthon course in 4:10:17, averaging 9:33 per mile. After opening near 9:40 pace through the first three miles, he found his rhythm, dropping into the 8:209:00 range from miles 4 through 18. His strongest stretch came at mile 11, clocked in 7:39, the fastest mile of his race. The closing miles cooled off some, with splits drifting into the 1013 minute range between miles 21 and 23, before he steadied again over the final three miles to the finish. Carrill's race came on the 2026 Boulderthon marathon course, redesigned this year with net elevation gain cut nearly 40 percent, from 982 to 603 feet a notable adjustment given Boulder's mile-high altitude. Like all finishers, he closed his marathon on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
