Steady Pace Through the Middle Miles, Strong Finish Jeff Haley covered the half marathon in 1:51:43, averaging 8:31 per mile. He opened briskly, covering the first five miles in almost exactly 8:00 pace, the fastest sustained stretch of his race. From there his mile splits gradually eased, settling into the high 8:20s to high 8:50s range through the middle and closing miles, with a brief dip in mile 11 before he steadied again to the finish. Boulders elevation, over 5,000 feet, provides useful context for a pace like this. With the half marathon course set for a redesign in 2026 that trims net elevation gain nearly in half, from 384 to 203 feet, Haleys well-paced opening miles stand as a strong benchmark against the current layout.
