Strong Middle Mile Anchors a Steady 5K Finish Diego Flores completed the 5K in 34:14, moving through downtown Boulder's course at an overall pace of 11:02 per mile. His race built momentum in the middle stretch, picking up after a 11:59 opening mile to post a 9:57 second mile his fastest of the day before settling to a 11:05 final mile to the Pearl Street Mall finish. Racing at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Flores showed his best control in that second mile, where his pace gain also moved him up significantly across the overall and gender rankings. With a steady final mile to close things out, this result offers a solid foundation to build early-race pacing on for his next Boulderthon effort.
