Steady Start Gives Way to a Patient Closing Stretch Eloisa Escobedo finished the Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:32:34. Her race opened quickly, with the first two miles covering ground at roughly a 9:56 per mile pace the fastest sustained stretch of her day. From there, her per-mile pace gradually eased, settling into the 10:1510:45 range through mile eight before continuing to slow across the second half, finishing with an overall pace of 11:38 per mile. Running at altitude in Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, adds its own demands to any half marathon effort. Escobedo would have passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 before making her way toward the finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, capping off a well-paced opening effort with a controlled, deliberate finish.
