He also finished eighth in the men's 50-54 division. Uribes opened fast, covering the first mile in 7:11 and the second in 7:17, holding a sub-7:15 pace through two miles. The final mile slowed to 9:51, pulling his overall pace to 8:09 per mile by the finish. That opening two-mile stretch stands as the strongest section of his race. Uribes closed his 5K on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation solid context for a well-paced early effort.
