Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Deryck Schwitzer #40206 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Mid-Race Surge Fuels Top-10% Finish Deryck Schwitzer crossed the 5K in 25:39, good for 267th overall and 202nd among men in a field of 2,677 at the 2026 Boulderthon. His race built momentum through the middle stretch: after an opening mile of 8:37, he surged to a 7:08 second milehis fastest of the daybefore easing to 9:00 over the closing mile, still finishing inside the top tenth of the field. That second-mile push was the clear highlight, showing he had another gear once he settled in. With the race finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting over 5,000 feet above sea level, this was a well-paced effort worth building on for future editions.
