Steady Pace Carries Half Marathon Debut Effort Kenneth Cruz completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:57:13, an 8:56 min/mile average pace across the 13.1-mile course. Cruz opened with his fastest stretch of the race, covering miles 1-3 at an 8:32 min/mile pace, before settling into the low 9:00s through the middle miles. That opening pace held as his benchmark for the day, with later miles hovering nine to twenty seconds slower per mile. He passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 in the 9:13 min/mile range, part of a half marathon course reworked for 2026 with net elevation gain cut to 203 feet. Cruz closed with a 9:04 mile 13, a tick faster than his mile 12 split, finishing with pacing discipline intact from start to line in downtown Boulder.
