Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Tougher Back Half Ian Hedgecoth finished the 10K in 1:11:26, part of a field of 3,071 at 2026 Boulderthon. His race started strong, clicking off the first three miles in a combined 31:18 an elapsed pace of 10:26 min/mile before the effort cost him ground over the closing miles, with his final-mile split slowing to 13:38. That opening 5K stands as the highlight of the day, showing well-managed pacing through the early rolling terrain. The final three miles told a different story, as elapsed pace drifted from 10:54 to 11:34 min/mile by the finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds a real physiological challenge to any effort at this distance, and finishing strong through those closing miles remains a worthwhile focus for next time.
