Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Sheamus Murphy #41828 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish Sheamus Murphy, 19, of Boulder, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:42. He opened with a 9:24 first mile, surged to 8:43 through the second, and closed in 9:48, finishing with an overall pace of 9:15 per mile. That second mile stood out as his fastest stretch of the race, a solid push before the finish. Boulders elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds context to the effort, and the race capped off with a finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Murphy might look to sustain that middle-mile strength deeper into future races for an even stronger close.
