That second mile stood as the fastest stretch of her race, showing a strong surge before the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. Boulders elevation, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any pace management, and Zalars ability to accelerate mid-race despite that backdrop speaks well of her pacing instincts.
