Strong Middle Mile Powers Top-10% Finish Kinya Toride, 35, of Superior, CO, completed the 5K in 25:12, placing 248th overall and 186th among men in a field of 2,677. Toride's race built through a strong second mile. After opening in 8:15, he surged to 7:10 for mile two his fastest mile of the race before easing to 9:06 over the closing stretch to the Pearl Street Mall finish. That middle-mile burst proved decisive in securing his overall standing. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the pace swings reflect a well-managed effort. Toride might consider a more even split between miles one and two in future races to preserve energy for a stronger closing mile.
