Strong Closing Miles Cap a Top-10 Finish Kurt Roeser finished in 1:10:38, placing 8th overall and 8th among men in a field of 7,223. That's a step back from his 2023 result at this race, where he ran 1:09:37 and placed 4th overall. Roeser went out fast, hitting the first mile in 5:08, the quickest mile of his race, then settled into the 5:20s through the middle miles before drifting to a 5:43 split at mile 8. He answered with his strongest stretch late, covering miles 12 and 13 in 5:15 and 5:14 to close well ahead of the pace he'd held through the middle of the race. That finish carried him onto the Pearl Street Mall, capping a race run at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
