Even Pace Gives Way to a Fast Closing Kick Tyler Coleman covered the half marathon in 1:52:03. After settling into a rhythm near 9:00/mile through the middle of the race, including a slower fourth mile, he steadily trimmed his cumulative pace over the second half, finishing with his overall average down to 8:33/mile by the Pearl Street Mall. His strongest stretch came late: miles 12 and 13 clicked off together at roughly 7:24/mile, well under his race average and the fastest sustained running of his day. That surge came not far past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, and helped him finish with real momentum on a course run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet. A similarly aggressive push earlier in the race could make for an even more consistent effort next time.
