Strong Middle Mile Fuels a Steady 5K Effort Summer Saiedi covered the 5K in 51:25. She opened with a 15:37 first mile, then found her best rhythm over the next mile, clocking 14:39 the fastest mile of her race. The final mile slowed to 19:32, closing out the effort with a steady final push to the line. The race finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting close to a course that sits over 5,000 feet in elevation. Given how strong that second mile played out, Saiedi might look at ways to carry that pace deeper into the final stretch next time a small adjustment that could sharpen an already solid overall finish.
