Fast Start Sets the Tone for a Steady Half Emily Kunsman finished the half marathon in 1:52:08, averaging 8:33 per mile. Her race opened strong, with the first four miles clicking off at an 8:10 average pace, the fastest stretch of her day. From there, the pace eased gradually through the middle miles, dipping to 9:35 by mile 11 before she rallied with an 8:25 mile 12, closing out the final miles with control. Kunsman's race played out at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adding context to her overall effort. Around mile 9.5, she would have passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone, just before her pace eased into the 9:06 and 9:35 miles that followed. Her race, like every half marathon finisher's, ended on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
