Strong Early Pace Fades Late in Marathon Return Blair Holley finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:39:06, placing 157th overall and 135th among men. That's slower than his 3:32:26 at the 2024 Boulderthon, where he placed 79th overall. Holley ran the first half of the course aggressively, holding sub-7:40 pace through mile 18, but the back half told a different story: miles 21 through 25 each slipped past 9:00, with miles 23-25 sliding into the 10:51-11:54 range before he rallied to a 9:26 close. His first ten miles were the standout stretch of the day, banked in roughly 75 minutes at a 7:30 pace, well clear of his overall 8:21 average. That early efficiency came at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet, a factor worth noting given the late fade a pacing adjustment for the closing miles could be worth exploring next time out.
