That result reflects a well-paced effort through the opening miles, with plenty to build on toward the finish. The race unfolded with a strong first mile at 6:08, followed by an even faster second mile at 5:39 the standout stretch of the day. The final mile eased to 7:21, a natural adjustment after an aggressive early pace. Starting at 7:45 AM in downtown Boulder, Madsen tackled the course at over 5,000 feet of elevation, a notable backdrop for a sub-20-minute finish.
